The day
Up to the ridge and back
About 1,060 m up and the same way back down, at an easy pace with breaks along the way. The times are a guide: the snow and the group set the pace.

Niederrickenbach Station
We meet at the cable car, where the trains from Lucerne and Engelberg arrive, and ride up to the village at 1,160 m. Skins on.

Brisenhaus hut, 1,753 m
On the winter path through forest and alp pastures. A short break at the hut.

Glattgrat, 2,191 m
A little steeper along the Elfer rocks, then over the smooth ridge to the top: lunch with the view.

Down the same wide north slopes, where the snow often stays good for a long time.

The cable car down, then the train to Lucerne or Engelberg, every half hour.
Splitboard or touring skis
Your setup
Led on a splitboard; skiers are welcome on touring skis. Skinning, kick turns and the line up are shown for everyone. On the way down, skiers get the same good line and guiding, just no dedicated ski technique coaching. Snowshoes work too, with your snowboard on your back for the way down.

Meeting point and practical
Your guide
Technique
I ride confidently off piste, in deep and tracked snow, on slopes of about 30°.
No touring experience needed: skinning, kick turns, finding the line up and the avalanche side are shown or taken care of.
Fitness
I can walk uphill for three to four hours with breaks, about 1,060 m at around 300 m an hour.
Getting there
By train to Niederrickenbach Station, every half hour from Lucerne and from Engelberg. The cable car leaves right beside the station.
Snow and weather
We check the avalanche bulletin and the weather and tell you whether the tour runs as early as we know, at the latest by 17:30 the day before.
Payment
Pay within 1 day (24 hours) after signing up, or before the activity starts if sooner.
Cancelling
Free of charge until 17:00, 14 days before. Then a cancellation charge of 50% until 8 days before, 75% until 3 days before, after that the full price. Full terms

The guided day, in a group of four to six.

The train, the cable car up and down (about CHF 26, half with a half-fare travelcard), rental gear and food
